CBS and NBC notified the United Church of Christ on Tuesday that they were refusing an ad that is part of the UCC's "God is Still Speaking" campaign. UCC says the ad is designed to spread the message that "like Jesus, the United Church of Christ seeks to welcome all people, regardless of ability, age, race, economic circumstance or sexual orientation." You can see the ad at the church's website, www.stillspeaking.com/default.htm.You have got to love it. Editorial after editorial calling for Conservatives and Religious People to be more accepting of... ahem... alternative lifestyles. Scathing criticism for churches that oppose gay marriage for even the most philosophical or religious reasons. But try to spread the message that anyone is welcome at church, and that is offensive. Of course, this "controversy" is probably driving more folks to the website to see the commercial than a national airing of the ad would have.

A Welcoming, Loving God is too Offensive for Network TV
After the revelation of this election that most of America is made up of God-believing, people of faith, you'd think the networks would be trying to plug into that demographic. With a majority of America being Red States or Red Counties, there would be a lot of money to be made by catering to church goers. But no, of course not. Apparently, welcoming people to church is offensive.
