The Sound of Desperation

It's getting almost painful to watch the rabid lefties lose all hope that somehow the will of the American people will be undone and President Bush will somehow not be sworn in for re-election.

Consider this article which claims that electors are bucking the system and standing up "against injustices done during the election." Now, without context, that might seem like a major deal and reading the highlights of the article would lead you to believe we're about to enter a time of chaos when John Kerry will suddenly be swept into the White House. But there are a few problems.

First, all the electors raising issues are from Democratic states (with the one exception of North Carolina, but I'll get to that in a minute.) That means, the electors who are threatening to hold up their votes are electors that will vote for Kerry anyway. This means that Kerry, not Bush, will get less votes. And in North Carolina, the Democratic electors are standing outside in the cold while the Republican electors cast their votes inside, without a hitch. More importantly, word has already come back that voting in these states is going forward without any problems. Therefore, if the story is even based in anything aside from a leftie's fantasy, it still hasn't materialized. But never fear, that hasn't stopped DU from picking up the thread and running with it in all-too-soon-to-be-shattered-glee. Remember this sound, it's the sound of an entire wing of a until recently major political party going the way of the dinosaurs.
