Can anyone explain to me why Donald Rumsfeld has suddenly become the equivilent of Kryoptonite to every politician, beaurocrat, and media man out there? The man presecutes a war for a few years and he gets kudos for his frankness and new ideas in capturing Iraq in almost no time. Everyone loves him. Suddenly, the election is over, and he is the only cabinet member not leaving or moving to a new post. So, suddenly he is the worst thing since brocolli?
Consider McCain and Schwatzkopf and the Washington Post and even Conservatives are offering only backhanded compliments. You'd think one slip at one press conference from a planted questioner would have less staying power.
Or maybe it is just a slow news week.
Update 6:15 PM: Now even normally anonymous Republicans are getting on his case! Wow. This is more action that we usually expect of a Lame Duck session. Or maybe it is a Sitting Duck session for Secretary Rumsfeld.
