According to the Toledo Blade, Rossford High School had a great idea for their anti-drug rally. "Let's hire a student band to play at the event," they said to themselves, "To get the kids excited and to invite a larger attendance." Great idea, right? Nope. They were attacked by parents who charged the school with violating separation of church and state. For having an anti-drug rally? Nope, because the student band happened to be a Christian band with songs that referenced (gasp!) God and Jesus.
Well, this makes sense right? After all, all students would be forced to attend and would have no choice but to be exposed to a highly religious event! Nope. All students were offered two alternative choices. One, they could watch an anti-drug movie instead. Two, they could just have a study hall to goof off in.
Well, this makes sense because the kids were against it, right? Nope. The student body was very much in favor of the concert. A few loud-mouthed parents and the school's law firm were able to veto the idea.
Sigh. Someone wake me when we come back to our senses. Sometimes a concert is just a concert.
