Who's Stingy?

The UN official who yesterday made news by calling the US "stingy" has backed off his claim a bit as it has become obvious that the administration wasn't going to allow that type of charge to stand. Sadly, he wasn't alone. Every leftists blogger in the blogsphere jumped on the bandwagon to point out how horrible America is for not giving more money. It turns out the facts paint a different picture. We give .13 percent of the GDP of our nation, much more than all but a handful of Scandanavian countries give and that number does not include money to Afghanistan or Iraq. More importantly, it doesn't include food sent as aid. America gives more food to other countries than nearly the entire industrialized world combined. But hey, the UN said it so it must be gospel to the left.
