Sigh. Berman/Braga Look to Kill Trek a Little More

So, you have a blockbuster franchise. You have a new spinoff of that same franchise which is starting to lift out of the ratings doldrums and looks to take off in the next season. You have produced nothing but awful movies in last few outings, and each movie looks to drag down the franchise a little further. So what do you do to save the franchise? Do you invest in the series which is showing promise and bringing new fans into the fold? Or do you invest in the movies which generally are bringing in less profit than the last Kevin Smith feature?



Well, apparently if the franchise is Star Trek and you are Brannon Braga and Ron Berman, you create a new movie which will likely scuttle the new series and yet has no connection to any other past proven property. That's right. No Kirk, no Picard, not even an Archer. Just all new stars playing all new parts which have little relation to what made Star Trek great. Sigh. That's right folks, we are about to see the Star Trek version of Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. Here's hoping they don't try to get Kevin Kostner as the new captain.
