Is it April 1st?

It must be because I have witnessed that which could not be on any other day. There is actually an intelligent article up at DU. I nearly fell out of my chair as I read the article. The author is fair and balanced in many aspects of the article and does not lay blame on either side. She considers the upcoming election and the WOT in fair terms and actually bothers to look back at this country's history for perspective.

Sadly, she still misses the point in her conclusion when she says,
They allowed rationality and reason, not faith and belief, to rule the long days in Philadelphia so many years ago. When agreement was finally reached, James Madison told Thomas Jefferson that the created document - our Constitution - was "nothing less than a miracle." A document created by men that understood that we all have beliefs, and that they should be acknowledged, but they should never determine our shared fate.
See, this is where she's wrong. Yes, reason was important but the faith and beliefs that these men held were what gave them the strength to do what was needed. Without a prominent place of beliefs in their hearts, these men wouldn't even have undertaken this monumental task that became our nation.

And this perfectly expresses what is wrong with Frankenkerry and most of the far left. They don't think that beliefs matter. They think that people with beliefs are weak and troublesome. They fail to realize that belief and faith are what make reason and rationality take life. I can reason all I want, but until I have the faith to put it into action and belief enough to continually work for it, nothing will come of it. The Enlightenment (one of the biggest secular failures in human history) taught us this but the far left hasn't caught on to that yet. They still think that we can get where we're going by sitting down and reasoning with our enemies. The argument goes, "If we just reason with them, we will come up with an equitable solution." But our enemies don't work on these models and the author is smart enough to realize this. Yet, she refuses to connect the dots and see that this must be reflected in our dealing with the enemy. This is the failure of the far left, to fail to realize that the world does not share their dated version of reality.
