CT Supreme Court Rules Gay Marriage Ban Unconstitutional

That is right, folks. It is official. I knew it was coming, but it still is shocking to me. Nice to know the culture war will be coming to my home state for a while. Maybe it'll boost the economy for a bit. Even angry protesters need to eat and sleep somewhere, right?

  2. I will make the prediction that in my lifetime we will see Polygamy legal as there is no basis to make it not legal if human moral tradition is not taken into account. Polygamy has as much or more of an argument as it has been legal in the history of Jews, Muslims and Mormons.

  3. I have to agree with crchair on the legal basis for polygamy. If we're allowing homosexual marriage based on two people being committed to each other, why not three or more? We do it in the business world in the form of LLC's and corporations. Just to be clear, I don't support polygamy and think it would be a bad move (both morally and socially), but if we're going to throw out the traditional definition of marriage, it's not that big of a leap to polygamy. Of course, it'd be interesting to see how the tax code would react to a 50 person "marriage". I don't know if the current choices of filing status would actually work or not.

  4. The argument against the "Civil Unions" was the slippery slope argument. People said how silly and hypothetical that was... well, consider yourself on a wild and downward slide.
