At Least Anderson Cooper Tried

After watching the debate last night I flipped over to CNN to watch some commentary. Anderson Cooper was having a special edition of his program. He wanted to begin his program with CNNs journalists who were not affiliated with a political party or campaign in an attempt to get some fair analysis. Dispite his best effort this is how it began. This is not word for word, but very close to what was said.

Anderson Cooper "We'll get to our partisan panel in a minute, but let's start with our non-partisan panel. Suzanne, what did you think of the debate?"

Suzanne Malvo "Well Anderson, I was just e-mailing with an Obama spokesman and they said they were very happy with the way it went and said that Obama showed why he should be President."

I don't think Suzanne Malvo understood what Anderson Cooper was trying to accomplish. Instead of seeming "Fair and Balanced" (as Fox News would say) the first thing they said during their analysis was the official reaction of the Obama campaign.

  1. Hasn't this been the problem for the whole campaign? People keep wanting unscripted honest reactions from the candidates and instead get a regurgitation of the same old stump speeches.

We need someone on the stage at the last debate to call out the candidates and challenge them. I nominate the ghost of Tim Russert!

  2. Who is Anderson trying to kid, neither he nor Suzanne Malveaux has ever been non-partisan!

The 360 panels are always skewed in favor of Obama and he always lets Begala, Brazile, and Martin run off at the mouth as long as they want, saying whatever they want.

They didn't even mention how Obama broke the rules by butting in during the debate any time he wanted. If McCain had done that they would have complained about it.

Anderson is nothing but an elitist liar and a wimp!

  3. I have always been under the impression that Mr Cooper was very fair to all parties. I could not sight specifics, but that is what I get from watching him.

  4. I tend to think of Cooper as mostly fair as well. I've never seen him portray his own politics outright. But that could just be the fact that he is balanced in comparison to someone like Chris Matthews or Olbermann and seems fair and balanced in comparison. But he does tend to let his 'guests' go on a bit.
