Jitters or Real Concerns?

It seems that some conservatives in the blogsphere are having morning jitters today concerning the election. I wonder how much is reasonable concern and how much is just listening to cocky leftists. There is certainly reason to be concerned. Bush should be soaring ahead of FrankenKerry. The Democrats have run the worst campaign in modern history this time around. It's been poorly advised, poorly managed, and poorly executed. Kerry is a horrid candidate who, on a normal day, could only ever win in his home state. Even that is owed mostly to his ties with the Kennedy family. On the other hand, virtually everyone agrees that if it weren't for Iraq, President Bush would be on the verge of a Reganesque victory. This reflects just how large an albatross this war has apparently become.

But I'm not completely convinced. Liberals are now sticking with a story somewhat devoid from reality. They now claim that the world was united behind us with one voice until Iraq became an issue. Even a foggy memory will recall that there was widespread dissent concerning our invasion of Afghanistan. Other countries protested in mass demonstrations, liberals claimed that the President was "rushing to war" against the Taliban, etc. Sounds familiar, no? Indeed, with the exception of a couple of weeks after 9/11, the left in this country and those around the world have never given this President their support. Bush didn't throw away the support we received from other countries, it was a superficial feel-good move by many of those countries. Le-Monde's now famous "We are All Americans Today" article did express support for our grieving nation. But, in the same article, they blasted our country for it's "reckless" and "dangerous" policies that threatened world peace. It was only a couple of weeks after 9/11 that we found liberals already circulating rumors about "secret Rove plots" or "secret Zionist plots" all detailing how the President had planned the attacks so that he could gain ultimate power. At the very least, they said, the President knew it was coming and didn't do enough.

Don't be fooled by the lunatic left, they never supported this President and never plan to. Their memories of the "good old days" are lies meant to convince us that the left in this country aren't really as out of touch as we all have the sinking feeling that they might be.
