Irony on a Cosmic Scale

There are those who doubt God has a sense of humor. For these people, I provide this proof that the Immortal, Invisible God Only Wise enjoys irony from time to time.

William Hammond survived one of the bloodiest battles of World War II but died at a parade honoring him and others after a van at a Veteran's Day parade ran over him.

This is the kind of thing that I as a writer hate, because you know if I ever used this as a plot point in a story, every one would say "That can't happen in real life!" But God's writing of our history is definitely a comedy more often than not, if a dark comedy.
