At Least it Looks Good on Paper...

It's hard to get too excited about any claims that countries like Egypt and Iran make, but news of their upcoming meeting certainly makes one think that at the least they're starting to see the writing on the wall. The invasion of Iraq might yet still be a seminal moment for our relations with the Middle East. It's a shame, but if fear is the only language they know then it might just be the case that we need to scare them enough to see the light of day. I can only guess at the long term implications of it, but more and more "experts" keep saying that Islamic nations need to be made to respect us before we can hope to see progress. It could be that slogging our way through this mess will actually yield positive results. History will tell.
