Ahunld Called On Austrian Comments

It appears that the Governator is being called onto the mat by historians over his comments at the Republican National Convention. CNN is reporting that the two big ones are:

1. The Soviets had left his district of Austira by the time Mr. Schwartzenegger was born, so he could not have seen "Soviet tanks in the streets", and

2. The governments in power while he lived in Austria were not Socialist, but conservative in nature.

#2 is pretty easy to refute, and Ahunuld's spokesman did so himself by clarifying that the comments were not about people who called themselves Socialist but "a socialistic-style of government and governing that he experienced when living in Austria." #1 is harder to deal with. The same spokesman indicated the tanks were seen while on a trip sometime... while a child. That sounds more like a John Kerry ribbons-vs-medals comment to me.

Watch out Governator. If there is one thing the GOP does not need, it is someone who talks like Bill Clinton and John Kerry - making up history to prove whatever point is convenient.
