Kerry's Plan for Iraq Shows Weakness on Terror

John Kerry said today that he would remove troops from Iraq within the four years of his first term. While I think we'd all like to see our military out of Iraq, it's a huge mistake to put a date on the details. Right-Thinking has picked up on why this is a big mistake,

I remember reading a book by a former FBI bevahioral profiler, in which he discussed obsessive behavior, specificallly stalkers.  He described a situation where an obsessed male will call a female repeatedly and harrass her.  The profiler said that the only thing that the female can do is refuse to answer the phone, no matter how long he makes it ring.  Why?  Because even if he calls and lets it ring 500 times, if you pick the phone up, you’ve just told him that if he wants to get you on the phone all he has to do is let it ring 500 times.  You have set the rules of the game in his favor.  Well, look at what Kerry just said.  He just told the Islamofascists that if they let the phone ring for four years we’re going to leave.  He just told the enemy exactly what was necessary for them to achiueve victory—hang on for four years.  Now, compare this to Bush’s pledge to stay until the job is done.  “You can let the phone ring all you want, but we’re not going to pick it up.”

You can't give in to the kind of evil men we're dealing with here. It's exactly because they thought they knew how far to push us that we've gotten into this mess.
