Why Did Kerry Lose: Red State Stupidity?

Yeah, you gotta love it. Bush runs a campaign of ideas and strong moral values. Kerry runs a campaign with no ideas, no moral point of view, and only one message, "I am not Bush." So why did Kerry lose? Was it his inability to maintain a position in the face of opposition or questioning? Was it his lackluster image? Was it his selection of an inexperienced pretty-boy lawyer for his Veep? Was it his history as an anti-War activitst? Was it his in ability to show resolve on the War on Terror? According to Slate, it is due to the ignorance of the Red States.
I grew up in Missouri and most of my family voted for Bush, so I am going to be the one to say it: The election results reflect the decision of the right wing to cultivate and exploit ignorance in the citizenry. I suppose the good news is that 55 million Americans have evaded the ignorance-inducing machine. But 58 million have not. (Well, almost 58 million—my relatives are not ignorant, they are just greedy and full of classic Republican feelings of superiority.) Ignorance and bloodlust have a long tradition in the United States, especially in the red states.
Sigh. Again, a leftist decides that anyone who disagrees with them must simply be an idiot. C'mon people. Two intelligent people can read the same material and come to different conclusions. Two intelligent voters can can see the same news stories and come to different conclusions. But I guess we have to let the losers vent the anger for a few days in harmless ways. Let's just hope this is not the model for the next four years. Though, if so, it is likely that 2008 we will see a repeat of 2004.
