Photoshop VS Forgeries
In the age of Photoshop, it becomes easier every year to create stunning photographs. It also becomes easier to create fake photographs that defy the ability of the human eye to detect. Anyone who has spent any time on Apple rumor sites is familiar with the fake iPhone, iPDA, and iEverythingElse mock-ups invented by creative Photoshoppers looking for their 15 seconds of fame. Finally, Adobe, maker of Photoshop, is recognizing the need to be able to detect fakes and forgeries reliably. They will be releasing later this year a set of plugins which can analyze a photo and rate the likelihood that it has been faked. Hopefully, this will go a long way toward restoring the credibility of major news organizatios, after Reuters accidentally published several altered photos.
