After much sound and fury, which appeared to signify nothing, something has indeed come out of the Valerie Plame debacle. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, closely associated with Dick Cheney, has been found guilty of perjury and obstruction of justice in the investigation of the outing of the former CIA operative. Reaction seems much more shocked than I have been. Already, there are calls for a Ford/Nixon style pardon - something I suspect would be problematic for the GOP in the next elections, no matter who is the nominee.
I still think this "scandal" has consumed a lot of energy for very little usefulness. I do not think anything will be found to lead directly to the VP, and I suspect the Left will place a lot more import on this than the common man in the middle. But I am interested to hear the theories of our readers.
