Why Peace With Radical Islam is a Pipe Dream

There's a reason why Islamic Fundamentalists hate us and, dispite what the left would have you believe, it's not George Bush.

"Democracy is a word of Greek origin meaning the sovereignty of the people... this concept is considered apostasy, contrary to the doctrine of one God and Sharia (Islamic law)," the statement from the three groups said.



"Democracy is a farce created by our enemies to confer what they call legitimacy on the new government which is subservient to the crusaders and executes their orders."



"To try to ensure these elections succeed would be the greatest gift to America, the enemy of Islam and the tyrant of our time," it added.



The group said democracy could lead to the adoption of laws considered un-Islamic, such as homosexual marriage. "By virtue of democracy, members of parliament become gods themselves."

As long as any one group holds such a view of free and democratic principles, then the West will find itself continually at conflict with that group. And here, we see the crux of the conflict. And we are also faced with the brutal (and to the left, unacceptable) reality that this war is more than political or economic. It is not only cultural but also religious. Our entire national concept based in Christian understanding is that God made every person free and that as a state, we should serve to uphold that status within set social norms. However, radical Muslims do not believe that men should or can be free. Instead, mankind must be kept under the heel of the "religious oligarchy" who "truly understand" the will of Allah.



Christians once acted in this manner as well and sadly, some Christians still hold a view not that different. However, as a faith, Christianity has moved beyond this small-minded thinking. It's not for a faith to rule the world. It's for a faith to bring peace and comfort to the world while the governments do what they do. More and more Christians have slowly but steadily dropped the outdated, and un-acceptable, parallel between America and Israel. Instead, the truer paradigm of America as similar to Rome has been replacing the older model. This will only help Christians to more correctly understand our place within this great but terribly flawed country in which we live. Islam has failed to grasp this understanding and instead continues to assert itself through the boot of dictatorships and barbaric regimes that will further its goal. And because of this, Islam (at least the Radical forms) will never be compatible with any Western style of government and will never cease to wage war against Democracy which pushes for the freedom of all its citizens.
