Chief Justice Not Long for this World?

We here at Mod-Blog are very sorry to read this report of the state of Chief Justice Renquist. We were hoping his long absence from the court was a healing time, but it appears it may be more the case of waiting until the Inauguration, so that he can retire confident that a Conservative president will replace him.

Rehnquist was hunched over in his wheelchair, an old hunting cap pulled down low over his ears to cover up his blotchy skin and near baldness, possibly the result of the aggressive treatment he's getting for his thyroid cancer.,,His eyes looked sunken and lifeless. A plastic collar was wrapped tightly around his neck, where his throat had been opened recently for a tracheotomy.

While there are those who have recovered from worse states, this is not hopeful. When my father reached a state similar to this in his cancer experience, it was toward the end. I'll be praying for the Chief Justice and his family. I also believe that people choose when to die - barring sudden death like a car accident that is - so it is not unlikely that in the hours after the Inauguration next week, we will all be recieving some sad news.
