Inside the Mind of a Virus Writer

Ever wondered why the authors of computer viruses do what they do? News.com has up an interview with a former member of 29A, an underground computer virus writing group. The best defense is a good offence and for that, I am glad that there are those who write computer viruses so that the problems are made known and can be fixed. On the other hand, I disagree with Stihavka in that new virus code should be released. Instead, the flaws should be responsably disclosed to the company who owns the product they are exploiting and then, only if the company does nothing, released to the public so they know that they are unprotected. Releasing the actual code for the virus so that anyone could make the virus and start spreading it is just foolish.
