No, not iTV, EyeTV

One of the lesser-noticed releases at MacWorld this year is the new EyeTV Wonder USB 2.0. The original EyeTV is something that CRChair and I purchased very early on. It essentially turns your Mac into a Tivo for the watching and recording of programs on your antenna or cable systems. This is great and cost far less than a Tivo did at the time. Plus, the automatic program guide is 100% free, so there is no on-going cost. And when you combine EyeTV with a laptop, you have the chance to record your programs, edit out commercials, and then take them with you ANYWHERE. There were only 2 downsides to the original EyeTV: (1) they recorded in MPEG format which is less than TV quality and thus were noticeably fuzzy at times, and (2) due to the time-shifting pause capabilities your EyeTV view of real TV was always a second behind, thus making the EyeTV useless for hooking up a game system to play on your Mac.

EyeTV Wonder has solved both of these issues. Hooking up with USB 2.0, it provides DVD quality recordings (assuming your cable or antenna can pull in DVD-quality signal) on your Mac, and THERE IS NO TIME DELAY which means you can play your XBox on your Mac with nothing more than a shudden when you realize your Mac is displaying Microsoft code. This one comes highly recommended.
