Santa Clause God

That's what it boils down to over at Slate. And we wonder why we don't understand God? It's all about what he can do for us. The real shame of it is that even someone with just a college level class on religion or philosophy could blow these arguments out of the water. But the crew over at Slate doesn't seem interested with surrounding themselves with people who know much about religion. It's much easier to maintain your prejudices when you don't ever have to meet "the other." There's a line from a Newsboys song Lost the Plot that popped into my head as I read through the writer's ignorant thoughts. "For a time we stuck with the shepard, but you wouldn't play Santa Clause." For people who believe that God exists to serve us, instead of the other way around, there will never be a satisfactory answer to the question of evil.
