I just learned one thing that makes the Mac mini less attractive. It is in now way user upgradeable. In order to install even memory (and remember all Mac systems come with anemic standard memory), you must take it to an Apple Store or an Apple Reseller or have it installed at the factory. This seems weird, since the whole point of the Mac Mini is supposed to be to woo Windows users who are used to user-upgrades. It is also contrary to recent Apple trends which have made the innards more and more accessible to adventurous home users. Then again, when you stuff so much into a tiny box, it can be hard to get in and out. I tried to do a user upgrade of the Hard Drive in an old Clamshell iBook I had some years back. Let's just say, it is STILL in pieces.

Mac Mini Gotcha - NOT User-Upgradeable
That is what is claimed by the writer of Bettnet in a new posting.
