Diet Plans: Only Weight Watchers Works?

Long-term readers of Mod-Blog know that I was on the Atkins Diet for about 9 months before my back problems forced me off of it. (Hard to be on a restricted diet when you can't get out of your recliner.) But I lost 60 pounds on that plan. Well, after the surgery (and therefore a complete lack of exercise of any rigorousness) I pretty much gained it all back. Not a great evaluation of that diet plan, but what I liked about it was the fact that a low-carb diet is the kind of thing you could (in theory) do for the rest of your life. Well, researchers have done a formal evaluation of many diet plans, and have concluded that only Weight Watchers has been shown to work for life.



This is good news for many of those close to me. This lady is a friend of mine who lost 212 pounds in 2 years on the diet, and has kept it off for a long time. My mother has been doing Weight Watchers for about a year now, and is also doing very well. And several other friends have lost anywhere from 20 to 40 pounds on the diet, and have kept it off. Maybe there is hope for this fat man yet.
