Some more Homosexual/Church debate fodder

Well, the Episcopal church has done something right or at least better than I would have expected. The have voted to:
exercise restraint by not consenting to the consecration of any candidate (for bishop) whose manner of life presents a challenge to the wider church and will lead to further strains on communion.
This is a good first step in lessening the strain within the general church, but I fear it's not far enough. There are enough loopholes within the statement to allow for further homosexual bishop installments. It's likely that we will see another homosexual bishop installed in the next 5-10 years, but for the time being this is a good step. Ron makes a good point that most Anglicans are actually Africans and they tend to be quite conservative, so it will be interesting to see what they have to say about the statement.

In other news the Presbyterian Church (USA) is debating whether a local congregation can have a homosexual elder even if the denomination prohibits it. To me, this seems like a pretty open and shut case of the answer being no. But as with all things theological it's always open to debate.
