In an effort to make all iBook owners feel more secure, I felt compelled to post this story. Essentially, a family was using their iBook on the carpet when it overheated, started to melt the carpet, and finally burst into flames. The family is safe and got pictures of the iBomb in process of becoming incendiary.
The story indicates that this is a rare problem, but that HP, Dell, and Apple have recalled over 300,000 laptops in the last few years for faulty batteries leading to fire hazzards.
