Wondering Why FM Radio Stinks?
One of the things that I was sticken by when I got XM Radio was how much less repetitive it was than FM radio... even less repetitive than AM radio. Sure, they still sometimes played the same song once an hour, but it was not the same-song-over-and-over problem that plagues the non-digital dial. Well, now we know why certain "hit" songs were played over and over... even when no one was actually buying it. Sony was paying radio jockeys to play their chosen songs, offering cash, laptops, Playstation 2s, and even plasma-screen TVs. This is predictable, but sad. I guess the record labels are unwilling to let the market decide. Then again, if they were, maybe they'd be more open to electronic distribution, eh?
