I am home sick today, so I actually have a little time today to read articles as they come out. (Well, as they come out in my brief periods of consciousness between passing out in bed.) So, let me be the first to say of the news of Eric Rudolph's life sentence for bombing an abortion clinic in Alabama - justice has been done.
Those of you who have been reading Mod-Blog for a while know that I am unapologetically Pro-Life. Not just that, I have no problem embracing the term Anti-Abortion as well. There are very few cases where Abortion is not outright murder in my opinion, though legislatively I am willing to accept less than my ideal in order to save the vast majority. But there is no excuse for taking life, in the cause of preserving life. This is not a war, this is not self-defense, this is not any of those rare cases where morally one is justified in taking a life to save a life. This is a political battle. This is a spiritual battle. This is not a battle of the shotgun or the explosive. Every doctor or nurse or security guard or innocent who dies in such an attack not only is a moral violation, but it hurts the Pro-life cause horribly.
Yes, God will deal with those who perform abortions in their own time. But have no doubt, He will be dealing with Eric Rudolph as well, when the time comes.
