The president was cheerful and optimistic to the end, as indicated in his farewell speech including the immortal words, "When the Lord calls me home, whenever that day may be, I will leave with the greatest love for this country of ours and eternal optimism for its future. I now begin the journey that will lead me into the sunset of my life. I know that for America there will always be a bright dawn ahead." The president - no matter what you think of his politics - was always a man of tender caring in person. May we now be in prayer for the emotions for his family. It is no easier to lose a father and husband for the fact that he was also famous or a great man. There will be moments of relief, as his suffering is over, but also long times of grief. May our prayers be with each and every one of them.
