Score One for Airport Security

With all the bad press that airport screeners have gotten, we should applaud them when they get it right. A carry-on screener at the airport in Tampa Florida noticed something in the shape of a boxcutter when he was looking at the X-Ray of a backpack. He opened the backpack and found a boxcutter in a hollowed out book. The person who was going through security said they "forgot it was there". The man was arrested and charged with multiple crimes including carrying a concealed weapon. Good Job Tampa International Airport security. Keep up the good work.

  1. My experience with bag screeners has been really good, actually. I had an old pocket knife that I had been brining with me on car trips, but I lost. A few years ago, I took a flight for business and used my trusty old travel bag. The screeners saw "something weird". After about 10 minutes of searching, they found the trusty old pocket knife caught in the lining of the bag! I let them toss it in the interest of getting to my plane on time, but I was impressed that they found something that I couldn't find no matter how often I searched the bag.

Of course, that was New York City and not too long after 9/11. Things may have gotten sloppier since then.
