Microsoft to abandon Gates/Seinfeld ads

It appears Microsoft has come to its senses and is abandoning the line of ads featuring Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates. Maybe this time around they can remember to actually make ads that tell you something about the product.

  1. Good decision.

  2. They are claiming that this was decided long before the ads flopped and died like a beached whale. Nonetheless, I'm not expecting much from the new ads. Have you seen the Mojave project commercials, better but not much.

  3. I have seen the Mohave commercials. By themselves, I don't see much potential. But as a precursor to something more in-depth, I think they are effective.

What I would like to see now is a series of ads which show the strength of Windows. Something like two guys with laptops, one on Windows, one on Mac/Linux. Windows guy shows amazing things he can do with Windows-only software and the Mac/Linux guy's refrain should be "Wow, mine can't do that." They could even make one where the Windows guy reminds the Mac guy they can install Windows on a Mac.

  4. I saw one of the new ads ("I am a PC)" with Bill Gates in it last night (9/18). I thought it was terrible.
