Huh?



Exactly how is this supposed to be competing with the get a Mac commercials?

  2. Shadowmom, Unfortunately for Microsoft, it is real. They spent something like $10 million for Seinfeld for that. I think the idea is to make Windows non-threatening and fun. But they missed that Apple's Mac vs PC commercials ACTUALLY SAY SOMETHING ABOUT THE PRODUCTS. Sigh.

  3. After seeing this on TV last night my wife asked me what it was advertising. If I hadn't heard all the buzz online about it, I wouldn't have known either.

  4. It was entertaining, but made no point.
    Anyone with a minimal knowledge of advertising knows that the main object is that you remember the name of the item being sold.
    Many of the most entertaining commercials of all time did not do that and were considered flops in the biz, even though you remembered the commercial itself.

  5. Way to oblique to be effective. And it wasn't really very funny or entertaining.

    My friend Gene, who was a big wig in the ad business, said that often the creatives get these ideas that are extremely creative, but don't sell the product, yet everyone goes along with them because it's "new and cutting edge" or something.

    Plus it never actually mentions the product... crazy.
