I posted this to Twitter already, but it seemed worth re-posting here. This article is a good explanation of what OpenDNS is and how it can be used to reduce the risk of phishing (i.e. fraudsters luring you to a fake site that looks like a real one in order to harvest personal info).
I installed Open DNS to our Airport this morning, and I must say it is MUCH faster than the DNS servers offered by our ISP as well.
OpenDNS is nice for a lot of reasons, let me list a few:
YanıtlaSil1. Faster
2. Free
3. More secure
4. Free web filtering for an entire network
5. Free
6. Wrong form URL correction (it will automatically change .cmo to .com and the same for other major TLDs)
7. Customizable search pages
8. Did I mention it's Free?
Yeah, I'm a fanboy, but as the guy who is responsible for several networks OpenDNS makes my life so much easier on multiple levels.
Some people don't like the fact that it shows ads on error pages, but for what I'm getting I'm more than willing to ignore a few ads.
Nomad - Can I have it on Sunday?
YanıtlaSilShadowmom1, I'd need access to your Airport device. So, probably not doable until the next time we come over for a visit.
