Hiptop.Com is the best place to get the news on this, but it is all over the internet. If you are like me and bought a T-Mobile Sidekick II, this has not been one of your best days. After releasing a pair of "Over the Air" updates over the weekend (i.e. firmware updates delivered via GPRS) T-Mobile has been unable to keep their data network up and running for Sidekick users and Danger has been unable to support their users at all. As of now, the problems include:
- Complete loss of data service for many users.
- Some data service but extremely slow connections for some users.
- Apparent data service, but errors when trying to use e-mail, AIM, or web surfing for a few users.
- Dangers online PIM application including calendar, address book, notes, etc. is completely down.
And the list goes on. What is worse is that neither Danger nor T-Mobile appear to be trying to be up-front about the issue, leading to a large amount of confusion among the user populace.
Today, I am finding it hard to impossible to recommend this phone to our audience, unless T-Mobile gets it back up and running VERY soon.
UPDATE: Even worse?
Some users are seeing OTHER PEOPLE'S ACCOUNTS and their private mail. Anyone else wondering if the hacker who grabbed Paris Hilton's stuff is laughing his head off right now?
