Did the Nazis Have Nuclear Weapons?

It has been largely held that the Nazis were close to developing nuclear weapons but did not succede. Apparently, there is some research indicating that they were closer than anyone knew. It's an interesting thing to consider. How different would history have been if Germany had beaten the Allies to the punch? I smell a new novel for Harry Turtledove!
