In the past few years, I have become more and more bored with the Superbowl. The gameplay itself hasn't been overly exciting to me, so I've been watching more for the commercials. But even those don't seem to be as creative as they used to be. Then there is the half-time show, which as we all remember from last year, wasn't quite as entertaining or imaginative as we'd all had hoped it would be. I guess this year they went with Paul McCartney, hoping that he won't accidentally toss a non-regulatory swear out, and that his shirt and pants will stay in their fully locked and upright positions.
When it comes to the Superbowl now, I almost feel like Charlie Brown in the 1966 Christmas Special: "Why has it become so COMMERCIALIZED!?!?"
What do we have to look forward to in regard to this year's Superbowl? Well, for me, it will be the genuine and colorful commentary coming from my friends and family, as we sit around and snack, every one of us getting some opportunity to pick on someone else in the room, and of course, there will be a post-Superbowl Simpsons episode!!!
This year, whether you're looking for a good game, a good commercial, or a good halftime show-- just remember to party responsibly and have fun just hanging out with your friends and/or family-- since I highly doubt you'll find a good game, a good commercial, or a good halftime show... but perhaps I'm just being anti-American..
