Google Buys Blogger, Fires blogger

While this is not cutting-edge news, it is worthy of comment. After the search-engine juggernaut Google bought Blogger (yes, the software that runs this site) it was assumed the generally-friendly-and-upstanding company would be friendly to bloggers in its own ranks. Not so much. Mark Jen, who was a Google employee who blogged about conditions working inside of the company, was fired at the end of January. Honestly, I did not get to read any of Mr. Jen's work before it was pulled, so I have no idea if he posted any company secrets. But this certainly seems hypocritical. Embrace independent journalism... just never report on us.
