I Won't Run, Don't Ask Me

Richard Cheney is not one to mince words. And apparently, he stuck with his policy this week on Fox News Sunday when asked about a possible Presidential run in 2008.

"I will say just as hard as I possibly know how to say ... 'If nominated, I will not run,' 'If elected, I will not serve,' or not only no, but 'Hell no,"' Cheney told "Fox News Sunday," making clear he intends to retire from politics at the end of his current term. "... I've got my plans laid out. I'm going to serve this president for the next four years, and then I'm out of here."

You have to love a man who doesn't believe in being cute or vague. Of course, this leaves the GOP in a rare bind. A strong president with a strong vice president... and no inevitable heir to the "throne." Should make for a uniquely competitive 2008 race... if the Democrats can get over their current Deaniac disabilities.
