WWDC is today

Those less obsessed with Apple than me may not be aware that today is the first day of Apple's World Wide Developer Conference. Today, at 1 PM EST, Steve Jobs will give the keynote address where he expected to announce:

- the next iteration of the iPhone
- Safari 5, with better HTML 5 support
- iPhoneOS 4
- an updated XCode
- iBooks and possibly NetFlix for iPhone

The keynote will not be streamed live, so if you want to see the announcements check out a liveblog like that of MacRumors.

Safari 3 = Garbage?

I have to confess, I am a bit of a Mac snob. However, my experience thus far with Safari 3 is making me waver a bit. It is, hands down, the worst piece of software I've ever had the displeasure to have to use. I am curious, how other users of the new Safari are faring?

This piece of garbage browser fails on me daily, especially at certain sites like CNN, Mod-Blog, Blogger, and Yahoo Mail. It will be a small miracle if I am able to post this piece, that's how bad it is. In addition, I also find that the browser seems to lose the connection, simply hanging in mid load for a page. I haven't even noticed any increase in speed over the previous version of Safari either. I have never encountered such a bug-filled and unpleasant program on a Mac and it is very disappointing to me. So disappointing that I had to use the bold function to express it...

Apple WWDC Keynote is done

Steve Jobs has finished his keynote speech at the Apple World Wide Developers Conference. No he did not announce new iMacs, new iPods, or the new iCar (all of your tunes, now in an easily portable and driveable package!). Instead, he focussed on the new features of Leopard that were previously unannounced, and of course the iPhone. But perhaps most interesting and unexpected is that (1) he released a beta for Safari 3 and (2) that beta runs on Windows!!! Is that the weather report from Hell? I think it is in for a blizzard!
