Jobs justifies loss of Firewire in MacBook

The Fire(wire) Storm has begun with many of the Mac Faithful angrily speaking out against Apple's decision to drop Firewire from the MacBook. One user claims to have an actual response from Steve Jobs, justifying the decision. Personally, I find it less than satisfying.

Safari 3 = Garbage?

I have to confess, I am a bit of a Mac snob. However, my experience thus far with Safari 3 is making me waver a bit. It is, hands down, the worst piece of software I've ever had the displeasure to have to use. I am curious, how other users of the new Safari are faring?

This piece of garbage browser fails on me daily, especially at certain sites like CNN, Mod-Blog, Blogger, and Yahoo Mail. It will be a small miracle if I am able to post this piece, that's how bad it is. In addition, I also find that the browser seems to lose the connection, simply hanging in mid load for a page. I haven't even noticed any increase in speed over the previous version of Safari either. I have never encountered such a bug-filled and unpleasant program on a Mac and it is very disappointing to me. So disappointing that I had to use the bold function to express it...

Apple Releases New Macbook Pros and Macbooks

Apple today upgraded both their MacBook and MacBook Pro lines of laptops. Both now feature faster processors, more standard RAM and bigger hard drives. The MacBook Pro now features a Multi-Touch trackpad like the Macbook Air. The thing that most excites me is that you can either th 15" or 17" MacBook Pros with 512MB of VRAM built in now. Also, the 17" model comes with an LED backlit display which is very nice.

I got a call late yesterday from the Apple Store. My Macbook is healed and ready for pickup. Of course, they made me sign something saying I understood that all of my data might go ka-plouie, so I expect I will have a lot of data restoration to do. Luckily, I had run a backup only a couple of weeks back. This should mean I'll be able to post more often starting Saturday or so. My experiment with a Linux (Ubuntu) laptop has been a pleasant surprise - it has been VERY useable and let me do everything I needed to do. But it still ain't as easy or fun to use as my Mac.
