iPhone surpasses WindowsCE in browser stats
After only six months - and no Christmas cycle yet - the Apple iPhone has already surpassed all WindowsCE devices combined in browsing statistics online. Browsing stats track the number of web pages viewed by certain operating systems and browsers, and is used by advertisers to target their web-based advertising. What is most telling here is that while WindowsCE (also known as Windows Mobile) has been out for 10 years and powers millions of deployed devices, it has been crushed in only a few months by the iPhone. If the trendline continues - and it is expected to do so, especially with the upcoming holiday sales season expected to see many iPhone and iPod Touch devices given as gifts, it could mean by this time next year that it would have surpassed Linux and perhaps even versions of Windows older than XP in browser stats. (For those wondering, it has already crushed the Sidekick, PSP, and other "alternate" means of internet viewing.)

I was going to get his and her iPhones for Christmas, but with word that a new iPhone is coming out in 2008, I'll at least wait for the January conference.
YanıtlaSilRob,
YanıtlaSilOK. Just be aware that the last word from analysts was that the 3G iPhone was expected in 3Q (i.e. July-August).
build a better browser and people will come. from what i've heard, safari on the iphone is so superior to anything else in the hand held market that it's not even worth comparing them. though i'm not surprised it's surpassing windows mobile, every time i've tried the internet on one of them it's been a pain in the gluteus maximus.
YanıtlaSilHaving surfed the Web on Palm devices, Sidekicks, WindowsCE devices, and even (here and there) Blackberry devices, I can attest that the iPhone is a COMPLETELY different experience. When the commercials say it is the web without compromise, THEY ARE RIGHT. No other mobile device I have ever used even comes close.
