I miss pseudoephedrine

Ever since the law was passed which forced druggists to move Pseudophedrine-containing medications behind the counter, my life has been much more difficult. I tend to use a lot of decongestant in the winter, especially overnight as I tend toward post-nasal drip. A year ago, I would simply buy some 12-hour pseudophedrine-containing medication and take it before bedtime. It was easy to buy and I'd buy 3 packs worth at a time and be set for a month or more, depending on weather and my body. But now, I have to go up to the pharmacist to get it, sign my life away, and can only get one package at a time. I can only imagine what they make parents of large families do in order to get enough for all the kids who get the cold at the same time.

This posting has an interesting conspiracy theory for the real reason why pseudophedrine was moved behind the counter, and he makes a compelling case. Fighting drugs is one thing (psuedophedrine can be used to make methamphetamines) but paying off a campaign contributor is something else. Here is hoping this law gets reversed in the net few years. It is silly and overly penalizes the law-abiding citizen for the actions of a few nuts.

  1. Sounds like it could be true. I wouldn't put it past someone, that sort of thing does happen all the time in a lot of areas.

It also points out that a lot of people are getting fed up with the government these days...
