And "Bugs Life" was really its first flop. It did well at the box office, but only in the "We need to park the kids somewhere rated G" way. Not the blockbuster way. I'd argue CARS was its second flop, but then I'd be lynched by 5-year-olds, so...
Perhaps. Still, BUG'S LIFE and CARS qualify, by some measurements. And I suspect UP will be more on the order of MONSTERS, INC. Not a blockbuster, but not a disappointment.

I think the discussion I was reading is defining flop as box office flop, not story flop.
