4Jesus answered: "Watch out that no one deceives you. 5For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am the Christ,[a]' and will deceive many. 6You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8All these are the beginning of birth pains.Humans are so used to defining "normal" as "nothing going on", that we forget that storm, war, and disaster are not very rare events on the human scene. They are all result of the Fall. We just think they are rare, because they tend to hit only one population at a time. A global news media brings every one to our doorstep now, and we need to remember this does not mean there are more of them. Just that we know more. And therefore should do more to help those in need.

Precious Perspective
I was reading this story earlier today, and it combined with memories of Hurricane Katrina and Rita, and my mind started to swirl. Then I was reminded of an important word from Jesus Christ.
