McCain Informally Formally Announces 2008 Presidential Campaign

That's right, Big John has announced that he may form an exploratory committee about maybe running for president in 2008. Maybe. Personally, I think after Reagan we are unlikely to elect a man to START his service older than Reagan was. Then again, if John McCain is out front, it provides two years for Democrats to exhaust their heavy guns on him while other potential nominees gain strength, raise money, and get a sense for the electorate. It would not be entirely out of character for Senator McCain to throw himself on a grenade for his party.
