Bush asked to speak at Iranian university
In a switch from last week's debacle at Columbia University, President Bush has been asked to speak at Ferdowsi University in Iran. Of course the president isn't going to accept this invitation, but how interesting would it be if he did choose to go? Would he come off looking as bad as Ahmadinejad or maybe better. I suppose it all depends on what side of the argument you're on. Then again maybe the University is being as slimy as Columbia was in inviting Ahmadinejad only to verbally bash him.

Ahmadinejad is a master at "marketing". That is why he spoke at Columbia University and why it was bad for us as a country that the president of the University spoke harshly against him before he even had a chance to speak. This is why Ahmadinejad wanted to visit the twin towers memorial. This is why Ahmadinejad had, at least for a time, a blog that could be read in English. For safety reasons, I understand President Bush not going to Iran. I also understand President Bush's stance on not talking to those who support terrorism because he doesn't want to waste his time or, by listening to them give them more standing in the world view. Still, Ahmadinejad will just use Bush's not going for his political spin machine, making us as a country look worse.
YanıtlaSilThe other thing is, I don't think President Bush is the president we'd want for this speaking engagement. It'd look much better for us if we had a president that was better at public speaking.
YanıtlaSilI am concerned about an assassination possibility. I do not trust the Iranian officials to control their people at any level.
YanıtlaSilWould Iran allow us to send Joe Lieberman instead?
