Another reason American carmakers are behind the 8-ball

I am quite happy with my purchase of a new Pontiac Vibe, and even moreso because it is an American-made car from an American company. (Though it was developed and manufactured jointly with Toyota.) But I am still worried that American car companies are becoming more and more ineffective and less and less competitive with foreign rivals.
