President Bush refused to deal with Yasser Arafat, calling him a terrorist. This was the direct opposite of former President Clinton who tried desperately to create peace between Arafat and Israel. Now that the head position is up for grabs, President Bush is granting $20 million dollars directly to the Palestinian Authority, as an act of good faith in hopes of peace. President Clinton worked so hard to build his legacy around the peace process in the Middle East in his second term. I hope President Bush isn't trying to establish his legacy here and one up President Clinton at the same time. While I would love to see peace established in the Middle East, I don't see it happening any time soon.
