As with any new hobby, one of the first hurdles to get over is the jargon that surrounds it. It can be quite intimidating for the new cyclist to hear the many complicated questions asked at a bike shop using unfamiliar words like "crank set", "derailleur", and "drop tube". This little video can be a lifesaver, as it walks you thru the basic anatomy of your bicycle and gives all the basic terms you'll need to talk about it intelligently.

Note to NBA Broadcasters
AGGRESSIVENESS IS NOT A WORD. The proper word for "displaying or characterized by being aggressive" is "aggression". Please make a note of it. The continual use of this non-word in describing players or what players should be doing is robbing me of any enjoyment of the NBA finals.

New Vocabulary Word: Otiose
Our observant Mod-Blog audience may have noticed my penchant for vocabulary. I love to discover new words and their meanings. English is a rich language and it is fun to see all the places that various users have taken it. This article brought me to a new word: OTIOSE.
OTIOSE: (Oh - Tee - Ohs)Methinks we have discovered a wonderfully obscure new insult to use on friends and family members. ;-)
- serving no useful purpose; having no excuse for being; "otiose lines in a play"; "advice is wasted words"
- futile: producing no result or effect; "a futile effort"; "the therapy was ineffectual"; "an otiose undertaking"; "an unavailing attempt"
- faineant: disinclined to work or exertion; "faineant kings under whose rule the country languished"; "an indolent hanger-on"; "too lazy to wash the dishes"; "shiftless idle youth"; "slothful employees"; "the unemployed are not necessarily work-shy"
