If you are like me, your local election officials are constantly moving around the polling places. It can be confusing, trying to figure out which of the hundred places you have voted in the past is the one for 2008. Well, this little app tries to bring together all of that information in one place. Enter your state and address, and it'll tell you where to go to cast your all-important ballot.
If you are not sure where to vote, please run this app today. Nothing worse than getting to election day and realizing for one reason or another, you have no idea where/how to vote!

Is America ready for a President who is not a White Male?
For years, common wisdom has held that the last "White Men Only" club in America has been the presidency. This year, both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are trying to challenge that assumption. But is America ready for the change?
...the CNN poll today shows that 72% of whites and 61% of blacks believe the country is ready for a black president. That's up from 65% and 54%, respectively, two years ago. (Both polls have a margin of error of +/-4.5%.)My own guess has been for a while that America wants a black president before a female president.
But asked if the country is ready for a female president, blacks and whites both are in agreement; they're less sure -- only 63% of both whites and blacks answer yes. That's up slightly (from 58%) for whites but down among blacks from 67% since December, 2006.
Interestingly, men and women remain in agreement on this issue, too. In 2006, 60% of both genders said yes and this time it's 65% female and 64% male.

Is that the sound of a vacuum starting up?
2008 may wind up being the year the American people clean house. A new poll shows Democrats no longer holding any significant edge over Republicans with the electorate. The problem is it is not because the GOP is doing better, but because the Democratic party has lost all credibility on the Iraq War. This raises the question of whether 2008 might wind up being the year that a Third Party can truly make their mark by sweeping both major parties out of power. Of course, a year is a long time in politics - time enough for one party to recover or for a new party to rise. But the early indications are not good for traditional choices.

Bush polls poorly, Congress polls worse
It is now being widely reported that Congress is now geting lower approval ratings than President Bush, which is especially notable considering GWB is getting some of lowest ratings since such polls have been taken. We were discussing this at Guys Nite Out tonight (our weekly ritual of pizza and testosterone) and agreed the reason for this problem is obvious. This Democratic Congress was put into place with only ONE clear mandate - to get the USA out of Iraq. And that is the one thing they have shown themselves unable to do.
One wonders if the Democratic Congress will only last 2 years. After all, say what you will about the Republican Congresses. They got stuff done, for better or for worse.
